The PROMPT Institute -  www.promptinstitute.com

PROMPT is a therapy approach which was designed by Deborah Hayden to treat individuals with speech sound production disorders.  It is a holistic approach, which also takes into account an individual’s cognitive level, language skills, and pragmatic language skills.  PROMPT uses a motor speech hierarchy for assessment ant treatment, and the technique itself consists of tactile-kinesthetic cueing, which is faded as motor speech control develops.  PROMPT does not follow traditional developmental speech hierarchies (for example /t/ develops before /r/), but instead considers the individual to determine how best to develop normalized, flexible speech motor control in a functional manner.

**PROMPT is a very rich approach and technique, and this summary is not all inclusive.  To find out more about PROMPT, please visit www.promptinstitute.com
